This year was interesting.  While we didn’t do as well as we wanted, most of us improved over last year.  However, I don’t think there will be any resistance moving to “D” next year.

Here are the facts for 2018:

1. Final record: 4-14 (including our 1-1 games in the playoffs).
2. Unfortunately, we had 2 major injuries this year – Rob H. (where’s my vape?!) and Joel.  We missed you guys and hope you both recover fast and well.
3. Our runs for average dramatically improved over last year (12.4 to 15.4) and is only slightly less than our yearly averages since 2014 when we joined “C”.
4. Our runs against average was our highest ever (19.2) and has been steadily increasing since 2014 (12.9 – 14.1 – 14.3 – 16.8 – 19.2).  Competition was tough this year and we are old.  Period.
5. I think someone needs to test Kurtz’s urine.  Having hit only 2 HRs in his prior 47 games, he hit 6 HRs in 15 games this year.
6. Speaking of improving, congrats to Cary, Sheldon, Kevin and Liebs for increasing their BA 20% over last year and Sheldon and Cary for increasing their OBP over 30%.
7. Ryan hit 15 home runs in 16 games – almost one/game.  Nice.
8. Nobody played in all 18 games this year.  That’s a first for us.  The closest was Ilan and Ryan with 16 games each.
9. Things that stood out for me:
   • Walking around Humber River Hospital with Ilan like we were on a TV show.
   • Fabian always knowing the situation and score.
   • Losing to Lundys Lane?? Caplan is probably still talking about it.
   • Adam coming back to play with us (let’s avoid the flip-flop again next year ok?).
   • Ilan hitting a walk-off homerun to win our first playoff game.
   • Eating those gigantic lobsters!  And no way that was chicken.
   • Experiencing tinder via Ryan.  Mama mia!
